Moldova and the European Union have signed a National improvement Plan worth EUR 1.9 billion, which is the largest EU support package for Chisinau so far. The majority of the funds – EUR 1.5 billion – will be granted in the form of a debt and around EUR 400 million will be granted to Moldova in the form of a non-refundable grant.
The signing of the agreement was informed by the Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marty Kos at a gathering on 9 May in Chisinau.
The plan includes backing for the next 3 years and aims to accelerate socio-economic reforms, increase state resilience and support the European integration process.
– This plan is our largest support package for Moldova so far and a clear signal that we want free and prosperous Moldova to be firmly integrated into our Union," stressed Marta Kos.
