Democratic candidate, socialist Zohran Mamdani won the fresh York mayoral election on Tuesday. A 34-year-old politician will be the first Muslim to head the authorities of America's largest city. Mamdani announced the arrival of a “new age” and saw his triumph as a winner of the working class.

Mamdani won the fresh York mayoral election
Born in Uganda, the boy of Indian immigrant politician was a strong favourite of the polls and defeated erstwhile fresh York State politician Andrew Cuomo and Republican social activist with Polish roots of Curtis Slava. After counting over 90% of the votes, Mamdani gathered just over 50%, while Cuomo – 41.5 percent, and Sliwa – 7.2 percent. More than 2 million people participated in the vote, at least half a million more than in erstwhile elections.
“Working Class Victory”
A 34-year-old MP of fresh York government is referred to as a democratic socialist, and the run based on the slogans of fighting expensive. Although the mayor of fresh York City has limited powers, in the run he promised wide changes in social policy including rent freeze, free bus rides, free daycare and kindergartens, and even city-owned grocery stores.
All these promises were repeated during the triumph speech, in which he proclaimed that his triumph was a triumph for the working class, he announced the coming of a "new age" and the introduction of a "generation of change". He besides quoted erstwhile socialist presidential candidate Eugene Debs and socialist Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru.
– As far as we can remember, fresh York workers have heard from wealthy and powerful people that power does not belong to them.

New York City “a city of immigrants”

First Muslim to head the largest city in the United States
Born in Uganda, the boy of a prof. and well-known manager of Indian origin is referred to as a democratic socialist. He is besides a Shiite Muslim and will be the first mayor of the largest American metropolis professing Islam. His rivals were erstwhile fresh York State politician Andrew Cuomo, who in 2021 retired in disgrace due to sexual harassment charges – and in the Democratic primary he lost to Mamdan – and a long-standing social activist, Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels organization patrolling the fresh York subway.
The run was abounding in controversy and intrigue, and its mark was besides reflected by US president Donald Trump from fresh York. The president repeatedly called Mamdani a Communist and threatened that if he won, he would cut off any of the national funds for the metropolis. Republican Troubles
Tuesday's triumph for the opposition candidate was 1 of a series of defeats of the ruling organization in local elections. In Virginia, politician candidate Abigail Spanberger definitely defeated her Republican rival, becoming the first always female in the governor's seat. His duel was besides won by a controversial candidate for lawyer General Jay Jones, who in revealed texts wished his Republican opponents and their children dead.
W fresh Jersey in an unexpected clear way race for governorship was won by congresswoman Mikie Sherrill. Democrats besides won in local elections in Georgia and Pennsylvania.
"Today's election results are a denial of Trump's programme. Cruelty, chaos, and greed, which specify the radicalism of the MAGA and lead to a sharp emergence in costs, have been powerfully rejected by the Americans," said Democratic leader in the legislature Chuck Schumer in a statement.
There's Donald Trump's reaction.
Following the announcement of Trump's results, he posted an entry suggesting that the failure of the candidates supported by him resulted in his name not being on the ballots and due to the ongoing shutdown. The White home account on the X platform, however, included graphics resembling the NBA fresh York Knicks squad logo, with the inscription "Trump is your president".
