The General Command of Types of Armed Forces reported the arrival of the 15th Giant Mechanized Brigade. – Now we are even more ready to carry out tasks – quickly, effectively and with a technological advantage! – declared the hangers.
The first K2 Black Panther tanks (their number was not made public) reached the 15th Giżycka Brigade Mechanized on May 6. “In the coming months we anticipate more deliveries,” confirmed Captain Małgorzata Misiukiewicz, press spokesperson of 15 GBZ. Previously, “black panthers” reached another brigades of the 16th Mechanized Division: 9 Braniewska Brigade of Armored Cavalry and 20 Bartoszycka Armed Brigade.
K2 reaches Poland by virtue of a framework agreement with Hyundai Rot in 2022. It assumes the transportation of a full of 1000 K2 tanks and its Polishized developmental version K2PL together with accompanying vehicles (technical safety wagons, engineering support, etc.), training and logistics package, ammunition supply and method support of the manufacturer. The first executive agreement afraid the transportation of 180 K2 tanks from 2022 to 2025.
– Currently, the National Defence Ministry is negotiating an executive agreement No. 2 for the acquisition of K2 tanks together with the accompanying vehicles – Deputy Minister of Defence Paweł Bejda informed a fewer weeks ago in consequence to the parliamentary interpelation. “The contract records include the acquisition of tanks in K2GF versions for the first batch and K2PL, whose chassis will at the same time be the base for accompanying cars, including method safety wagons, accompanying bridges and engineering wagons,” added the Deputy Chief of MON.
K2 Black Panther is simply a tank equipped with a smooth-bore 120 mm cannon, automatic charging strategy and integrated fire control system. The auxiliary weaponry of the 55-ton tank is simply a 7.62 mm device weapon and a large caliber device weapon (WKM) 12.7 mm. The South Korean tank has a 1500 hp diesel engine with automatic transmission, a hydropneumatic suspension strategy (ISU) and a dynamic track tension strategy (DTTS). The K2 crew are 3 people.
