According to the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania, the amendment is intended to extend the powers of intelligence institutions and improve social guarantees for officers. Although authoritative legislative publications do not specifically mention all the names of the agency, in the Lithuanian Interview Act (Žvalgybos įstatymas), the concept of "intelligence" is defined as activities carried out by state institutions authorised to get information on external factors, risks, risks and dangers for the Republic of Lithuania.
