The entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO is possibly a military reinforcement of the Alliance itself, but both in the short and long word it can besides (positively) affect intelligence and counterintelligence issues throughout the region or even Europe. Let us note that with the expansion of NATO, in the first place, the anticipation of allied cooperation with entities previously focused outside the Alliance will increase. In the case of Finland, there will be an chance to work even better with the Finnish Defence Intelligence Agency (PVTIEDL) and the Finnish safety and Intelligence Service (SUPO). In Sweden, we must separate MUST, i.e. the Intelligence and safety Service located by the armed forces, as well as the Swedish safety Police (SAPO).
