The construction of the first frigate under the Swordfish program is gaining momentum. The president of War Shipyard, Marcin Ryngwelski, informed Polish Radio during the defence fair in Kielce that the launch of the first unit was planned for 2 years. Work on the ship goes on schedule, and the time limits set in the agreement with the Ministry of Defence are not threatened.

The construction process of the first Swordpiece is organized in a modular system. The hull of the ship is formed in alleged blocks and mega-blocks, which allows simultaneous work on different parts of the unit. The yard is presently building a midship which will be ready for further processing in a specially built hall at the turn of September and October.

At the same time, the forward part of the frigate is besides formed. This key part of the hull will be delivered by the partner of the War Shipyard next year, allowing further advancement of the work.

Sword Program. 3 frigates for the Navy

As part of the Marine Sword Program, he is expected to receive 3 combat frigates. This task is implemented in cooperation with British partners. Each frigate will play a key function in the anti-aircraft defence of the Polish army. The ships will be equipped with modern CAMM missiles, capable of damaging targets up to 400 kilometres away. This will importantly increase the operational capabilities of Polish maritime forces and will supply more effective protection of Polish borders.
