The fresh regulation has just appeared in the authoritative edition and introduces a toll strategy for plastic single-use cups and food retention containers. This crucial change in law will apply from 1 January 2024, thus setting a fresh standard for the usage of these products. The information on circumstantial fees has been precisely defined and is already available, allowing operators to plan and prepare for the changes.
Regulations of the Minister of Climate and Environment
On the last Monday, i.e. 11 December, 3 late published regulations of the Minister of Climate and Environment were sent to the diary of the Law. These fresh regulations are a direct reaction to the law which introduces strict EU restrictions on the usage of disposable plastics and prohibits the sale of certain products made of artificial materials.
These are steps to adapt to the guidelines of the European Union and to change direction in the economy and society in the context of a more balanced approach to the usage of plastics. The publication of these Regulations in the authoritative diary means their authoritative implementation and entry into force, and besides obliges entities to comply with certain regulations from a certain point in time.
New fees for disposable plastic packaging
The provisions contain circumstantial amounts which will apply from 1 January 2024 and mention to additional charges for the usage of disposable plastic packaging. An additional fee of 20 cents for each copy is planned for cups for beverages, including lids and lids. However, food retention or administration packages, specified as take-out packages, will be charged an additional 25 cents.
The aim of these regulations is to encourage the regulation of the usage of disposable plastic packaging by imposing additional charges, while promoting alternative, more ecological solutions. This initiative is intended to encourage a shift in consumer habits towards a more environmentally friendly direction.
