New regulations of the European Union drastic changes for home and housing owners in Poland. The rules concern mainly energy standards of buildings, and their consequences can be severe financially for hundreds of thousands of Poles. The introduction of strict standards aims to reduce CO2 emissions, but can in practice lead to a fast increase in the maintenance costs of the property and the request for costly modernisation.
