As of January 2025, persons entitled to a social pension can number on new benefits from ZUS – alleged supplementary pension allowance. Payment will be PLN 2520 and will be valued annually. It is worth knowing that any people will receive this allowance automatically, while others will gotta apply accordingly.
Who are entitled to the allowance?
The supplement is dedicated to persons who receive a social pension and are completely unable to work and independent existence. This is financial support for those who are incapable to gain or operate independently as a consequence of their health. ZUS grants this allowance for the first time in 2025, as part of a policy to support people with disabilities.
What conditions must be fulfilled?
To receive the full amount of the allowance, the sum of the social and household pensions shall not exceed 300% of the lowest incapacity pension. If the full amount of benefits exceeds this limit, the amount of the allowance will be reduced. It is worth noting that the amount of the lowest pension in 2025 is about PLN 1400, which means that the full amount of the pension at which the allowance will be paid in full must not exceed PLN 4200.
When will ZUS pay the allowance?
Payment of the allowance will take place with a social pension starting in May 2025. Persons who have the right to benefit automatically will receive compensation from January. On the another hand, those who gotta submit an application will receive money from the period in which they meet the conditions, at the earliest from the minute of the application.
Who needs to apply?
Persons who received a social pension before 1 January 2025, but they had no judgement of inability to be aloneThey will gotta submit an additional application to ZUS. Only after obtaining specified a ruling will they be entitled to an allowance. It is crucial that the application is submitted as shortly as possiblethat the benefit is granted from the period in which they comply.
What else is worth knowing about the supplement?
Although the supplement is simply a benefit for persons with disabilities, payment is subject to the same rules as the social pension. This means that it is subject to deductions to wellness insurance and advance on income taxand may be executed in the event of financial default. Increase in the number of eligible benefits
According to ZUS data, there is about 160 000 people receiving a social pension. It is estimated that around 80% of them meet the conditions for granting a supplemental allowance. That means that About 128,000 people can number on additional financial support PLN 2520 per month.
