Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Europe had forgotten planet War II and Holocaust lessons, while criticizing European states for not helping Israel and the United States in the fight against Iran.
Many European countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Germany, rejected US president Donald Trump's appeal to aid unlock the Ormuz Strait, which Iran closed for ‘enemy ships’ after the US and Israel attacks on February 28.
Speaking on Monday on Holocaust Memorial Day, Netanyahu called Europeans ungrateful and argued that by declaring war on Iran, the United States and Israel "the defence of Europe".
"A Europe that has forgotten so much since the Holocaust can learn much from us, first of all a clear discrimination between good and evil, which requires war at the minute of fact in the name of good, in the name of life" said the Prime Minister of Israel.
"Europe, which promised to defend the good after planet War II, is affected by deep moral weakness today.
Europe is losing control of its identity, values and commitment to defend civilization from barbarism" – he added.
The global Criminal Court (ICC) has pending warrants for the arrest of Netanyahu and erstwhile Israeli defence minister Joava Gallant for crimes against humanity and war crimes allegedly committed in the Gaza Strip.
The United Kingdom and all EU countries but Hungary are signatories to the global Criminal Court under the Rome Statute, and if the Prime Minister of Israel were to go there they would be obliged to arrest him.
Iran condemned the war as unprovoked aggression and promised to defend its ‘swing right’ to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.
On Sunday, Trump ordered a naval blockade of the Ormuz Strait after US-Iran mediations with Pakistan did not lead to a peace agreement.
