The agreement was supported by Turkey, Jordan and another neighbouring countries. The decision was announced by American Ambassador Tom Barrack, who serves as a peculiar U.S. envoy for Syria. The diplomat urged all parties to the conflict to lay down arms and build a common Syrian identity.
