NE CEDAT ACADEMIA?- LET ACADEMIA NOT PAY
Józef Wieczorek – portal
At the end of March association Ne cedat Academia, cultivating the memory of secret academic teaching in Krakow during the German occupation, recalls the anniversary of the resumption of public teaching at the Jagiellonian University. On 19 March 1945, it is simply a date symbolizing the revival of the Jagiellonian University according to the sentiment of "Ne cedat Academia – Let the Academy not give way", invented after the war by Charles Estreicher. It is simply a value and a determinant of the past of the Jagiello omnipotentiary, which should be continued for the continuity of the medieval thought of the university founded on 12 May 1364 by King Casimir the Great.
Through secret teaching, the continuity of teaching, despite business and the ban on the university's operation, was not interrupted. Moreover, the president of the association, Dr. Monika Malicka, points out the immense function they played in the secret teaching of students of the Jagiellonian University, organizing to a large degree the underground education system. The thought of the university, as a corp taught and teaching together seeking truth, survived the night of occupation, but in a period of advancement it is disintegrated.
The Jagiellonian University is powerfully associated with the figure of St John Paul II, who as Karol Wojtyła was a secret and then an open student of the Jagiellonian University, and for respective years a lecturer of ethics. Unfortunately today, the lecturer of ethics at the Jagiellonian University, and this in the rank of professor, is Jan Hartman, who deplores the hatred of the ethics of John Paul II, to the truth, without the reaction of university authorities and academics. This shows the ethical rolling of the oldest Polish university.
During increased attacks on the largest of Poles and a associate of the community of the Jagiellonian University, the university retains a “tactual” silence. Only Ne cedat Academia powerfully opposes false accusations, actions against the truth, contradicting the rules of the historical and journalistic workshop. The Jagiellonian University employs and educates historians and journalists, but gives way – against its deviance – to those who compromise these professions. Where is the Jagiellonian University going?
