The erstwhile owner of the apartment, which belongs to Karol Nawrocki, has been staying in the Social Welfare home since April last year. Care costs are borne by the city - said spokesperson for Gdańsk City Hall Daniel Stenzel on Monday.
On Monday, Onet portal reported that Nawrocki took over the flat of 80-year-old Jerzy Z. in exchange for taking care of him, But this man yet resides in a welfare home. In 2017, he donated his studio to Nawrock and his wife Marcie; in return, they were to look after him.

Stenzel besides described how Mr Jerzy became the owner of the apartment. In 2011, the man exercised the preferential right of pre-emption of municipal housing for 10 percent of the value.
"This is the law that has benefited thousands of people in Gdańsk. It's not unusual. On the another hand, the municipality is required to recover the discount granted in the event of the divestment within 5 years. On the another hand, we know from the Eternal Books that specified a transaction was not carried out in 5 years, that is, until 2016. Nawrocki's position
Nawrocki's staff spokeswoman Emilia Wierzbicki wrote on social media that Mr Jerzy is Karol Nawrocki's neighbor, that Nawrocki has been helping him for many years. "Karol Nawrocki gave Mr.Jerzem money to buy the apartment, which Mr.Jerzy promised to give Nawrocki for the assistance provided" - she added.
