Karol Nawrocki's visit to Washington, D.C., which takes place just over 2 weeks before the first circular of presidential elections in Poland, has become 1 of the loudest events of the campaign. A candidate supported by the Law and Justice met with top US administration representatives, including president Donald Trump.
Initially, Nawrocki reported that there was no gathering with Trump, but later, on tv Republic, confirmed that the conversation had taken place.
“President Trump said, ‘You will win’ [you will win]. I read it as a kind of wishing me success in the upcoming elections," Nawrocki reported.
The White home published photos of the gathering at the Oval Office, which confirmed its course.
During his visit to the White House, Nawrocki besides met with State Secretary Marco Rubio, talker of the home of Representatives Mike Johnson, Head of the cabinet of Donald Trump Susie Wise, Head of the Justice Committee of the home of Representatives Jim Jordan, and wellness Secretary Robert F. Nawrocki emphasized that the intent of his visit was “quick — erstwhile I become president of the Polish State — entering into stabilizing Polish-American relations and continuing the work of president Andrzej Duda in this regard.” In talks with American politicians, he discussed the presence of US troops in Poland, investment and the future of technological cooperation. He pointed out that he “heard” that Poland is “in the second basket of countries” adopting American technology, but “we would of course like to be in the first category of countries”.
During meetings at the White House, American interviewers asked Nawrocki about the situation in Poland, including the PiS subsidy and attacks on independent media.
“I did not talk about it, but I will honestly admit that 1 of the questions I was asked was a subsidy for the de facto largest political organization in the parliament. I was asked if I was the only candidate who was deprived of the subsidy that was unlawfully taken from us. This shows that this information reaches the White House," Nawrocki said.
Nawrocki's visit to Washington was kept secret by his staff until the last minute. “A small time has lasted for talks about this, and with president Trump you never know precisely how it will be”, 1 of the staff members admitted. Euro MP Adam Bielan stressed that Nawrocki is the first Polish politician to meet Trump in the White home since his re-introduction.
The gathering with Trump and Nawrocki's presence in the White home were utilized by his staff as a contrast to the actions of the main rival, Rafał Trzaskowski, who campaigned in Poland at the same time.
