President Karol Nawrocki powerfully refused to confirm the word of office of members of the National Broadcasting Council. His categorical position is simply a consequence to Parliament's rejection of the KRRiT study from its activities in 2024.

The President's message was delivered on Wednesday on platform X by the Head of the Chancellery of the president of Poland Zbigniew Bogucki. The paper refers straight to resolutions of both chambers of parliament on the media activities of the regulator.

Full office of the President

"After proceeding the Resolution of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of 25 June 2025 on the study of the National Broadcasting Council of 2024 (M. P. 646) and the Resolution of the legislature of the Republic of Poland of 25 September 2025 on the study of the National Broadcasting Council (M. P. P. 1022) and the argument presented by the Sejm and the legislature in support of the positions to reject the study of the National Broadcasting Council of 2024, I declare that I categorically disagree with the arguments contained in the abovementioned resolutions of the Sejm and the legislature and so do not confirm the expiry of the word of office of members of the National Broadcasting Council" - wrote the president in a statement.

Media control dispute

The President's position means the continuation of the current composition of the KRRiT despite the critical assessment of both chambers of parliament. The decision deepens the dispute between the head of state and the parliamentary majority over the supervision of public media.
