Karol Nawrocki commented on Donald Trump's decision to impose duties on the European Union. He expressed concerns that the Union's retaliation duties could negatively affect Poland's prosperity. The PiS candidate stressed that the geopolitical crisis, including EU decisions, is detrimental to Poles.


Donald Trump imposed a 20% work on the European Union. The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has so announced that Europe will not stay passive and will introduce "retaliatory duties".

Karol Nawrocki during a gathering with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland expressed deep concerns about the decision. "I am profoundly afraid that the EU's "retaliatory duties" will have a negative impact on prosperity in the Polish country," he said.

Nawrocki criticises the actions of the European Union


PiS candidate for president added that Trump's duties are a consequence to the geopolitical crisis, but besides to the interior crisis of the European Union. "If the Union decides to retaliate, they will have a serious impact on the economies of the associate States, including Poland," said Nawrocki, expressing his belief that specified a step could negatively affect the prosperity of the country.



Nawrocki besides stressed that the decisions of the European Union on customs policy would be made mainly in the interests of the largest associate States, specified as France and Germany.

"Dear Members, we are already proceeding that the European Union intends to velocity up the signing of an agreement with the Mercosur countries, and decisions will be taken solely in the interests of the largest European Union countries," Nawrocki stressed. His message shows that customs policy decisions are dominated by the interests of the largest EU countries, which may not favour smaller countries specified as Poland.

Nawrocki assured that if he became president, he would be willing to negociate customs issues straight from the US to supply Poland with better trade conditions. He added that although he is "a supporter of the European Union has a deep regret for the EU elite".

– I am not the spokesperson for president Donald Trump and my position is Polish, but what happened yesterday is not good for the European Union, it is not good for Poland – Nawrocki stressed.
