A life contract is simply a peculiar contract based on trust and individual bond. Sometimes, however, it may prove to be not a form of aid but a dense burden. In exchange for the transfer of property, the purchaser undertakes to care for the seller for life – to supply him with shelter, food and care. But what if this individual bond breaks? Can a court “solve” specified an agreement? The answer comes from the latest ruling of the ultimate Court (order of 14 January 2026, I CSK 683/24), which specifies an highly narrow way leading to the annulment of life imprisonment. According to SN, the specified deterioration of the relation or even breaking it is not adequate reason.
