NATO has increased the readiness of rocket defence systems

NATO has increased the readiness throughout the Alliance for defence systems against ballistic missiles after the interception of a rocket launched by Iran towards Turkey," announced Colonel Martin O'Donnel, spokesperson for NATO's ultimate Command of Allied Forces in Europe.

The "defensive stance" will stay elevated until the threat of Iran's attacks has weakened," O'Donnel reported in a communication on platform X.

The Ombudsman added that he could not disclose details of the increase in readiness, thus justifying ‘operational security’ issues.

O'Donnel estimated that in the case of a NATO rocket launched into Turkey on Wednesday, “it had perfectly fulfilled its defence procedures against ballistic missiles”.

"In little than 10 minutes, NATO soldiers identified a threat to allies, a ballistic missile, confirmed its trajectory, warned rocket defence systems on land and sea, and fired a intercept rocket to destruct the threat, defend our territory and the population," he wrote.
