The war in Ukraine is the conversion of SZU to NATO-WSKIE systems, including 155 mm artillery. The artillery units were the first to scope the M-777 towed howitzers (the alleged 3 axes, from the form of the sevens), then came the next towed (self-propelled) and self-propelled ones - wheeled and tracked. Thus, the SZU received a mix of the latest technology (Caesar, AHS Krab, PZh2000, M777M2) and technology of the Cold War period (M109, FH70, TRF1), which allowed to replenish losses and gain parity, or even advantage, with quality, against the aggressor's quantitative advantage. It was besides highly crucial to prepare ammunition stocks, from classical to precise.
