NATO responds to a wave of Russian attacks

Members of the North Atlantic Alliance confirmed present that they are expanding military aid to Ukraine. The Secretary-General of the organization Jens Stoltenberg reported this after the conclusion of the NATO-Ukraine Council's high-profile meeting. The gathering was convened in consequence to Russia's massive attacks on Ukrainian cities.

NATO-Ukraine Council was established during Last year's Alliance Summit. It is intended to improve the cooperation of both parties. Today's gathering was convened urgently at the request of the Ukrainians. It was a reaction to the massive rocket attacks of the Russian army. Only on Monday and Tuesday the enemy launched 112 rockets and nearly 200 drones towards Ukrainian cities. Most were intercepted by anti-aircraft defense. However, the impact has caused serious harm to energy infrastructure. As a result, respective twelve people were besides injured. There were besides fatalities. Today, Ukrainian defence minister Rust Umierov met with NATO accredited ambassadors through video link. He explained in item the situation in which his country found itself.

– Ukraine continues to capture Russian missiles, saving the lives of countless people. However, in order to keep the defence, he needs even more support from our side," stressed Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary-General of NATO after the meeting. "In the aftermath of Russia's last attack, allies confirmed present that they were expanding military aid for Kiev. As the Alliance's press office reminds, since the beginning of Russian aggression, NATO has given unprecedented support to Ukrainians. At this year's Washington summit, representatives of associate States announced that they would supply Ukraine with additional strategical air defence systems, including Patriot rocket batteries. Only next year the full value of aid is expected to scope EUR 40 billion. In September, a fresh NATO command should be launched to coordinate support for the Ukrainian army.

The fresh Russian rocket attacks have been the largest specified strike since the beginning of the invasion. At the same time, he pointed out that it was part of a larger plan. Ukrainians want to get their best position before they sit down to the negotiating table. According to Zelenski, the Ukrainian side should inactive present the U.S. plan to end the war in September. Meanwhile, the fighting continues. Shortly after the conclusion of today's Council meeting, another appeal to the Western states appeared on the profile of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry on the X portal.
