The largest Italian warship entered service

The unit was created as part of the Italian fleet renewal programme – Programme di Rinnovamento Navale, which has been implemented for more than a decade, thanks to which it will not only be more modern, but besides stronger than before. No wonder that an event combined with the oath of 150 subjects of the first year of the Naval Academy in Livorno was given a very solemn setting. First of all, it was attended by the president of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, whose daughter Laura is the godmother of Trieste. In addition, the ceremony was attended by Guido Crosetto, the ultimate commander of the Italian Navy, the president of the Tuscany region Eugenio Giani and the mayor of Livorno Luca Salvetti.
