"You are not 18 years old, you cannot be a reporter in the Sejm – as we agreed, this rule of Marshal Simon Holovnia wrote in the alleged pre-order, which regulates the movement of areas and buildings on the board of the Chancellery of the Sejm" – reads Rzeczpospolita. The paper reported that the amendment of these provisions had already entered into force on 8 October.
Amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Sejm. The underage will no longer enter.
On the another hand, the Bureau of Media Service of the Chancellery of the Sejm – which quotes "Rz" – explains that "this amendment clarifies the ellipse of persons entitled to issue press cards and access cards for journalists to them". "The rule applied by the Chancellery of the Sejm to issue these papers exclusively to persons who are 18 years old has been explicitly enshrined in the order regulations," the Bureau added.
According to unofficial findings, these modifications in the regulations are the consequence of a storm around 12-year-old Sarah, who has already been hailed as "the youngest seismic reporter". The girl, with the aid of her parents, publishes online interviews with politicians, making her popular.
Sarah’s work in the Sejm has been going on for more than 2 years. At the time, any controversy arose. Among another things, after her effort to talk to Jarosław Kaczyński, who then threw on the camera that "freedom of speech is not for children" and after an interview with Grzegorz Braun, on topics of racism and the Holocaust.
In time, people began to have more and more to blame Sarah’s parents. "Some of the speakers in this case claimed that parents gain from displays and satisfy their ambitions, as well as writing questions to their daughter for politicians, so her journalistic activity is unauthentic," said Rzeczpospolita. However, the girl’s father argued that specified activity for his daughter was to be a form of therapy, for she was diagnosed with aphasia.
Sara hasn't gotten admissions to the Sejm in months. Her interviews proved problematic not only in the Sejm. besides in school, due to the fact that the parents of children from her class demanded the transfer of a 12-year-old to another group because, as they claimed, "it promotes political content under the influence of loved ones, which creates confusion and leads to social divisions already in simple school".
In turn, Sarah’s school directorate brought a motion to court to limit her parent and father’s parental rights. But it's not over. The cases are pending and there are more, as the parents of 12-year-olds have filed a private indictment against 50 people, including members of the pedagogical group, accusing them of defaming the girl.
