Sudden resignation in Tusk's government. Andrzej Wyrobiec resigns as Deputy Minister of Culture

Andrzej Wyrobiec, Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, resigned his post. The resignation was handed to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as announced by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage on Tuesday in a peculiar announcement.

The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage reported on Andrzej Wyrobek's decision in social media:

"Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Andrzej Wyrobiec resigned his post to the hands of Prime Minister Donald Tusk" – was given in the communication.

This decision was unexpected and the detailed reasons for the resignation were not disclosed. The hotel informed that the supervision of the departments coordinated by Wyrobiec would be taken over by Minister Hanna Wróblewski.

Who is Andrzej Wyrobiec?

Andrzej Wyrobiec was born on 3 August 1964 in Chrzanów. His rich career way covers many different areas, making him a figure with extended experience. He graduated in past from the Pedagogical University of Cracow, a journalism survey at the Institute of Polish Philology of that university, and postgraduate studies in accounting and finance at the University of Economics in Krakow.

From 1989 to 1994, he was the program manager of the Student Culture Centre “Under Lizards” and manager of student music festivals in Kraków. He later ran his own business as the owner of an advertising agency.

Political career

Andrzej Wyrobić became active with the Civic Platform in 2001. In 2006, he became deputy treasurer of the party, and since 2009 served as its treasurer. He was besides a financial typical of the electoral committees of the Civic Platform and in the 2010 election run of Bronisław Komorowski.

In October 2010, he resigned as PO Treasurer to take on the position of Secretary-General of the organization he held until December 2013. His government career began in 2014 erstwhile he became Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In this function he worked until 2015.

After leaving the ministry, he took up the position of president of the Management Board of the Silesian Park, which he held until 2017. Then, from January 2018 to September 2019, he was a proxy for the chief executive of Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Krakow for the construction of the Music Center in Krakow. He returned to the Ministry of Culture in 2023, assuming the post of vice minister.
