To the delegation!

When I go on a delegation to Katowice, I get a diet of PLN 45. erstwhile I go to Berlin, I get 49 Eur. Are Berlin prices 4.5 times higher than Katowice? No, they're almost the same.

While staying at the hotel I have a choice: i) I settle the cost of breakfast in the hotel account, which causes the diet to be reduced by 25% in case of a national delegation or 15% foreign, ii) I do not settle the cost of breakfast in the hotel account and then the diet remains unchanged.

Let's see:

I'm having breakfast at a hotel in Berlin for 12 Eur and I account for it as a hotel service Then the diet decreases by about 7 Eur. The difference between 12 and 7, is small.

I eat breakfast at the hotel in Katowice for 45 PLN (I paid so much recently). Diet decreases by 11 PLN. The difference between 45 and 11, there's a large difference.

Much higher abroad diets made sense in times of PRL. Then prices in Polish restaurants were much lower.

Twenty years ago, the diet to Berlin was 42 Eur, and the national was 22 PLN.

In Poland for 22 PLN you could eat in the restaurant once, while in Berlin for 42 Eur you could eat 3 good meals.

Now for 45 PLN you can only eat breakfast in Poland, and 49 Eur in Berlin is adequate for rather mediocre food.
