With Anna, a volunteer in the editorial board of the Weekly of civilian Affairs, we talk about her motivation, her development, and what she appreciates in volunteering.
Anna. For more than a year now, he has been publishing interviews based on the Subcasts of civilian Affairs Week. She's a very modest person, and she values privacy, so at her request, she gave me an interview anonymously. As she speaks of herself, she likes to be “in the barricade but from the back.” Could volunteering be specified a form of action?
What is volunteering for you and why have you chosen it?
Anna: I went to the Institute of civilian Affairs, looking for different volunteering options in the editorial board.
I wanted a place where I could learn something about working on lyrics. Besides, I was ideologically attracted to the subject, due to the fact that the issues of ecology or protecting children from smartphones and the influence of social media on young people are very close to me.
At first it was expected to be a correction, and in time it turned out that I would be in charge of the podcast editing.
I was looking for work that wasn't besides incriminating and flexible. For fourteen years, my main activity has been moving a house, raising 3 children, and it takes quite a few time, but it besides gives quite a few joy. On the another hand, I have been working for respective years, and with the civilian Affairs Institute I have been working as a volunteer for over a year.
I have a bachelor's degree in German Philology, so I've been sitting in books, I've got literature and a word in my résumé, and what's going on around the language. I graduated from the editorial school, but I'm inactive studying, and I've done more. any time ago, I besides started working with another publishing house, doing a correction of children's fairy tales, and sometimes I do editorials on blogs.
I see the podcast marketplace is increasing and growing. Even if the program itself writes a text, it must then be edited, corrected sentences, which during speaking is rather circumstantial and differs from that, in reading materials.
Often it is essential to kind out thoughts that individual speaks alternatively chaoticly and combine themes into threads.
I like it a lot. It's not boring at all, it's not painstaking for me, due to the fact that podcasts are very interesting to me. I am pleased that the Weekly editorial board accepts my changes in the way I have organised the text.
Once it's quiet at home and everyone's out, the kids are at school, I can take care of the songwriters. It's my development, I'm doing it for myself. The experience and skills I get are individual gain to me.
What podcasts are you working on?
For example, on the interview with prof. Grzegorz Kolodka on the social marketplace economy and on worker councils. It is very fortunate for me that I can work on interviews with interesting people and on topics that are in line with my interests. Another topic: how to halt aging processes.
I feel like I have quite a few freedom in volunteering. It's besides very kind to me that my work is appreciated. I think that's why we work together well: precisely due to this freedom, trust and interesting topics that I deal with. I am glad that I am volunteering in a place like the Institute of civilian Affairs.
