
There were trenches and fortifications close the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, says Radio Swoboda. The editorial refers to satellite images taken in December. The fresh reinforcements may be part of the “node of resistance” announced by the Belarusian authorities.
The trenches for infantry and military equipment appeared close Blackberries in the Grodno region, on the edge of a military camp in the north-western part of the country. The place is about six kilometres from the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.
According to Radio Swoboda, the Belarusian Ministry of Defence announced construction fortifications in this area a year earlier. In October 2023, however, Aleksandr Lukashenka spoke about the request to prepare respective fortified ‘Resistance nodes’.
According to the dictator, specified points are designed to prepare the country for defence in places "most likely attacks".

There are respective fortification points on them, including a 340-metre long ditch and a width of 5 to 7 meters. There are besides 200 metres long trenches and insignificant dams and pits.

Reinforcements were created in the reserve ‘Grodzka Forest’. Earlier satellite images indicate that the fortifications began to form in this area at the turn of 2022 and 2023. Military experts in an interview with Radio Swoboda indicate that fortifications appear unfinished.
January 2025 Ministry of Defence of Belarus announced military exercises at a camp nearby.
