– We came to the field cathedral not stimulated by a loud bell, but moved by a tender impulse of conscience and heart," said Bishop Wiesław Lechowicz during Mass on the anniversary of the beginning and dedication of the Polish War Cemetery in Mednoje.
The Eucharist was held in the intention of officers of the State Police, soldiers and representatives of another uniformed formations of the Second Republic murdered by the NKVD in the spring of 1940.
The Mass in the field cathedral was presided over by the Polish bishop Wiesław Lechowicz, the delegate of the KEP for the Police Ministry. The liturgy was attended by police officers at the head of the Chief of Police Gen. insp. Marek Boroni and representatives of the communities who cared about Katyń Crime victims. The sermon was given by Fr Sławomir Grocholak SAC, the chief chaplain of the Police.
At the beginning of the liturgy, the field bishop recalled that Polish police officers murdered on russian dirt remainder in Mednoje. As he said, the participants of the Eucharist gathered to pray for representatives of the State Police and another uniformed formations, “to thank for their evidence of life, to entrust them to God's mercy and to draw motivation from their example, and from the Eucharist strength for faithful and effective service to the Homeland, for its safety and peace.”
