The head of the Lithuanian MFA Gabrielius Budrys called for the strengthening of the air defence of NATO front states. According to the Lithuanian minister, the alliance must respond more decisively to Russian provocations.
"Soyus (North Atlantic) must respond by force, not just by concern. The reality is clear: until (Russian leader Vladimir) Putin will be able to proceed the bloody war against Ukraine, no country - even belonging to NATO - is safe" - wrote Budrys on the X portal.
Request for tougher sanctions
The Minister stressed the request for more severe sanctions against Russia. "Sanctions must hit the heart of Kremlin's war economy. Putin will not halt unless we halt him" - he added.
Budrys warned against systematic violations of NATO airspace by Russia. "Repeated, unthought-out violations of NATO airspace by Russia pose a direct threat to the safety of people and infrastructure of peculiar importance" - emphasised the head of Lithuanian diplomacy.
Solidarity with Poland
Lithuanian Minister assured full support for Poland. "Lithuania is completely solidarity with its ally, Poland" - said Budrys.
His words came after the Polish airspace was repeatedly breached by drone-type objects during the Wednesday attack of Russia on targets in Ukraine. This information was provided by the Operations Command of Types of Armed Forces.
Deputy Prime Minister and head of MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish reported that the threat drones were shot down. The Minister provided this information in the context of Wednesday violations of the Polish airspace.
