United States president Donald Trump resigned his plans to conduct a gathering with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the close future.
After a telephone conversation between the 2 politicians on 16 October this year, a declaration was made about the summit of Putin and Trump in Budapest. It was expected to happen “in the next 2 weeks”.
After it turned out that Moscow did not intend to mitigate its demands for Ukraine, the summit was cancelled. Nor will he hold a preparatory gathering of the heads of diplomacy of both countries – Marco Rubio and Sergei Lavrow.
"The Russians wanted besides much and the Americans understood that in Budapest Trump would not make any deal with them," stated 1 European diplomat informed about the matter.
Russia does not agree to halt armed action on the current front line. This was the condition of the American president. "Just halt – means forget the first causes of this conflict," said Russian MFA chief Sergei Lavrow.
