Russian elder officials differed in assessing the current state of relations with the United States.

Sergei Riabkov's deputy diplomat stated on 8 October that "the construction of American-Russian relations is falling apart" and "impulse Anchorage" after Vladimir Putin's gathering with Donald Trump "has been importantly exhausted".

This opinion was rejected by Putin's advisor Yuri Uszakov, who stated a day later that akin statements “are completely wrong” and that contacts between the Russian and US administration are “regular” on the basis of agreements concluded at the Alaska Summit.

Riabkov blamed European countries for the prolonged war in Ukraine. He stated that deliveries of American Tomahawk missiles to Ukrainians would constitute a "serious step" towardsThe escalation.

As part of his peace efforts, U.S. president Donald Trump offered the Russians, among others, the abolition of sanctions, designation of Crimea's membership of Russia and the resumption of economical cooperation. Putin, however, insisted that Ukraine should transfer Moscow not previously occupied by troops of Russian territories in Donbasa and importantly reduce the number of its troops. Furthermore, the Russian president refused to let Western peacekeeping forces to be deployed in Ukraine.

After gathering in Alaska, the Russians importantly increased the number of rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities.
