Moscowtimes.ru: Putin one more time declared that he did not consider the decision to invade Ukraine a mistake

The decision to start the war with Ukraine was "right and timely," stated Russian president Vladimir Putin during a gathering with the commanders of the St. Petersburg armed groups.

He mentioned that on 30 September the "day of unification" of the occupied regions with the Russian Federation was celebrated, ensuring that the "overwhelming majority" of residents supported this solution during the alleged referendum. According to Putin, there's evidence that the invasion decision was right.

The Russian leader reiterated the propaganda thesis that the Russian troops “paint across the front line”. However, he complained to Ukraine that he was attacking "totally civilian facilities located in the depths of Russia".

According to Putin's statistics, in 2025 Russian troops occupied 4,900 sq mi of Ukrainian territory (less than 1% of the full Ukrainian state). He besides confirmed the request to "achieve all targets" of the alleged peculiar military operation.

The gathering was held on 7 October on the 73rd birthday of the Russian President.
