– I hope that the President's wife will think of Ukrainian children, aid for Ukrainian children, that we have a war abroad, that Ukrainians, Ukrainians and Ukrainian children die all day. Don't forget that. And you should not just think about social emotions," TVN24 writer Monika Olejnik said on Monday.
Veto Nawrocki on the aid bill for Ukrainians
As we have already informed, Karol Nawrocki announced on Monday that he would not sign the law on aid to Ukrainians (800 plus is to be for workers only). Here's more about it.
According to the Minister of Digitalism Krzysztof Gawkowski, the consequences of this decision go beyond the 800 plus programme and besides include crucial forms of support for Ukrainian citizens in their homeland.
"Presidential veto cuts blind! Karol Nawrocki excludes the net of Ukraine by his decision, due to the fact that it de facto means his decision concerning the law on assistance to the citizens of Ukraine," said the Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski.
"This is the end of the Starlink Internet, which Poland is providing to the war-torning Ukraine. It is besides the end of support for storing Ukrainian administration data in a safe place," he added.
What about Starlink for Ukraine?
"I can't imagine a better gift for Putin's troops than cutting Ukraine off from the Internet, as the president has just decided. Mr President, you must halt blindly hitting on the government in the name of political combat. You harm people who fight for their independency and at the same time aid Russia" - said the minister. "One will say shame, the another betrayal of a neighbor!" he concluded.
Presidential Minister Zbigniew Bogucki, however, claimed that the veto of the president "NOT disables the net of Starlink Ukraine due to the fact that the costs of this communication are financed by the provisions of the current law, and the task submitted in the Sejm by the president of the Republic of Poland maintains this state of affairs".
"In September this presidential initiative will be adequate to effectively reprocess in the Polish parliament," he wrote.
"Analogically, it is about support for the retention of data of the Ukrainian administration in a safe place," the entry states.
