The fresh rules on how to execute compulsory military service were introduced by the Minister of National Defence (MON) on 7 March 2024. These provisions enter into force on 28.03.2024.

We recommend: New mobilization regulations. He's got six hours to go to the army or jail.

The publication of these provisions in the authoritative diary of the Republic of Poland took place on Thursday, 14 March this year. The draft of these provisions was published in October 2019.

It is worth noting that the work to carry out compulsory military service in Poland has been suspended since 2009, and is not planned to reconstruct it.

The Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, confirmed this information at a conference held on 8 March this year on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership of NATO.

Radosław Sikorski, Minister of abroad Affairs, who was present at this conference, responded to the words of Prof. Katarzyna Wigura, sociologist, who asked:

More and more people say that in the event of war they would like to leave the country. How do you as politicians intend to address this problem? It's not just a defence thing. besides many of our citizens and citizens are besides mature for that.

I hope the prof. of women's Day agrees with me that conscription to the military should be gender-less non-discriminatory “The head of the MFA replied and asked the head of the MON to confirm that the Polish Army was inactive under the law.

Primary military service was suspended, not terminated – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish.

The latest rules of the Ministry of National Defence are based on the existing regulations on non-professional soldiers in general, but they make any changes due to the request to adapt terminology to the current regulations.

These changes include:

  • Procedure for acceptance for compulsory military service.
  • Methods of designation, change and release of soldiers from their positions.
  • Transfer procedures, posting to another military units and directing on business trips.
  • Exemption from compulsory military service.

Mandatory military service was divided into stages of basic and specialised training. During basic training, the soldier acquires cognition and skills in the field of military regulations, drills and the handling of individual equipment. At the end of this stage, he takes a military oath.

The fresh regulations besides let to change the place of service at the request of the soldier himself, in addition to the change dictated by the needs of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland.

It is worth noting that the fresh regulation is issued to implement the statutory mandate contained in Article 161 of the Homeland Defence Act. The Ministry of National Defence shall find how compulsory military service is to be carried out and the procedures for the reception, change and release of soldiers, their transfer to another units and the posting and business travel, taking into account the request to guarantee the efficiency and efficiency of the service.

These provisions will be implemented only after the introduction of the work to carry out military service, which will take place after the president of the Republic of Poland has issued an appropriate regulation.
