In 2015, then Chief of Staff of the United States Army General Raymond T. Odierno announced the introduction of 4 fresh vehicles to the U.S. ground forces in the coming years, which would yet replace equipment implemented in the years of the "cold war". It should be noted that the announced modernisation did not simply mean replacing the vehicles utilized so far. In the case of infantry subdivisions, it besides meant upgrading the operational doctrine and returning to the modernized concept of tactical usage of light subdivisions, developed for the purposes of the conflict with the USSR in the 1980s, this time adapted to fresh challenges resulting from geopolitical conditions.
