In 2015, U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond T. Odierno announced the introduction of 4 fresh vehicles in the coming years, which would yet replace the equipment deployed during the “Cold War” years. It should be noted that the announced modernization did not mean only the replacement of previously utilized vehicles. In the case of infantry subdivisions, it besides meant a modernization of operational doctrine and a return to the modernized concept of tactical application of light subdivisions developed for the conflict with the USSR in the 1980s, this time adapted to the fresh challenges arising from geopolitical conditions.
