

According to the head of the Ministry of Finance, European countries must take greater work for their own safety and "more and more wisely" spend money for this purpose. He reported that on Wednesday in London, he spoke to UK Finance Minister Rachel Reeves about "new tools" related to defence spending. As he added, he invited Reeves, along with Jens Stoltenberg, Norwegian finance minister and erstwhile NATO secretary-general, to a gathering of EU finance ministers scheduled in April in Warsaw.
"I am convinced that Polish and British defence reasoning is very similar," Domański said in an interview with "FT". He identified defence backing as his "highest priority" during meetings with EU Finance Ministers and with his British counterpart.
As a common objective, it indicated a simplification in the cost of defence backing with more efficient spending of taxpayers' money and support for European tiny and medium-sized enterprises.

He announced that he would discuss Poland's proposals on these issues at the informal gathering of the economical and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in April in Warsaw. In the Doman opinion, EU-wide solutions are crucial, but "if there are targets that cannot be achieved at EU level, we will effort to find another solutions".
The Minister stressed that he advocated a "buy European" approach and treating defence spending as an industrial policy to advance home production. "Building a strong European defence manufacture is simply a priority... It is always best to buy Polish and, if not possible, European," he stressed.
"We have talked to the Minister (Reeves) about various possibilities and we share the view that our taxpayers' money must be spent efficiently and that this efficiency can be increased with fresh tools (which will allow) smarter spending," said Domański, referring to the function that Britain could play.
According to France Télécom, European governments anticipate to get more favourable prices under defence contracts through cooperation in the acquisition of equipment.
