The Sejm took the decision of Zbigniew Ziobry – 239 MPs voted in favour of waiving immunity and agreeing to 30-day detention for the erstwhile Minister of Justice. There were 178 parliamentarians against it. This decision opens the way for further judicial action on the Pegasus investigation committee. Justice Minister Adam Bodnar commented on the situation, announcing that "the coming weeks will bring fresh crucial events". The Sejm decided: Ziobro without immunity, detention for 30 days

The Parliamentary Rules Committee recommended the waiver of the immunity of Zbigniew Ziobrze, which allowed the vote on the matter. The consequence of the vote – 239 in favour, 178 against – shows how opinions are divided among Members. Now the motion for arrest will go to court, which will make the final decision.

Bodnar: “We do not know how the court will behave”

Justice Minister Adam Bodnar, commenting on the Sejm's decision, stressed the independency of the judiciary. “This is the independent justice strategy that neither the editor nor I know how the court will behave in this situation. Moreover, we would not even want to know and in any way find out or influence the court in this situation," said the lawyer General in an interview with TOK FM.

Bodnar besides referred to the investigation into the Justice Fund, pointing to key evidence. "I have said many times that in this case we have 1 crucial evidence, that is Jarosław Kaczyński's letter to Zbigniew Ziobry, saying, "Pay attention to this Fund, due to the fact that there will be trouble." It was Zbigniew Ziobro who was the recipient of this letter – the minister recalled.

Minister Bodnar pointed out further crucial elements of the investigation. – Secondly, there were reports by NIK on the Justice Fund, to which Minister Ziobro had not responded at all. This is the correspondence of Minister Dworczyk," he added. According to Bodnar, it will be hard to explain the deficiency of knowledge. – It will be hard for the minister to cover himself Ziobro due to the fact that 'it was any subordinate authoritative in the Ministry of Justice who oversaw it, Deputy Minister, and I knew nothing, I had no knowledge' – he said.

The Minister of Justice expressed his conviction that the investigation was on the right track. – In this case, about 1/3 of the full evidence has been analysed for the purposes of the trial. I think that even the coming weeks will bring fresh crucial events on this issue," Bodnar announced. He besides added that the investigation is “all developmental” and that the indictment does not close the full story.

Bodnar besides called for patience and assurance in the investigation team. “Let’s give D.A. Wozniak, a squad of investigators a chance to proceed the case,” he said.
