In the close future, almost 3.5 million Poles will face the request to exchange identity cards – not due to the change of data, but due to the expiry of the validity period. Failure to comply with this work may consequence in a severe financial penalty, reaching up to PLN 5 thousand. The Ministry of Digital Affairs recalls that the identity card is not a formality ‘since Christmas’, but a basic paper confirming the identity, and putting the case aside at the last minute may have serious consequences.
