In the close future, almost 3.5 million Poles will face the request to exchange identity cards – not due to the change of data, but due to the expiry of the validity period. Failure to comply with this work may consequence in severe financial penalties, up to PLN 5 thousand. The Ministry of Digital Affairs recalls that the identity card is not a formality ‘since Christmas’, but a basic paper confirming the identity, and that putting the case aside at the last minute can have serious consequences.
