When the muscles refuse to obey and you shake from the cold, you are hungry and tired, then what is crucial is what happens in your head. due to the fact that only determined and motivated people will pass this test, say volunteers of voluntary essential military service who completed their selection for Formosa. They are the first D.C.S. soldiers to handle this challenge.
You're soldiers. voluntary essential military service. What makes you think you can tie your future to peculiar forces?
Candidate No. 38: I've dreamed about peculiar troops since I was a kid. The older I was, the more convinced I was that this was the way for me. After college, I couldn't get to Jata course at the peculiar Forces Training Centre, where civilians are trained. But I follow the rule, if not the door, it's the window. I heard about DZS and I thought, "This is the way for me." I started basic training in the 43rd Bomb Squad. There I met with recruiters from Formozy and decided to file papers with the unit. I passed the exams and got into specialist training.
Candidate No ‘34’: I was drawn to the army from an early age. I've read and listened to a lot about peculiar troops. Last year I took part in an information and promotion gathering held by representatives of the AWF in Poznań Formose. There I learned a lot about the particularity of the unit, about the service of soldiers and the tasks to which the marine commandos are meant. I was very interested. They besides talked about herself. selection, recruitment process and requirements to be met by the candidate. I figured we should effort it, and I volunteered for D.C.U. The voluntary service was expected to be specified a test, a test, if I would always find myself in the army. I liked it, and I was convinced that I wanted to be a professional soldier. A soldier for Formosa.
How did you prepare for the selection?
‘38’: First of all – a long time. Six months ago, during my first test, I failed. I quit due to the fact that I couldn't withstand the cold during my assignments at sea. I'm beautiful thin, so I got cold very quickly. But I learned a lesson from this defeat. all day I trained even more and harder. I've walked a lot, with and without weight. I went to the mountains, I besides practiced in the Tricity area, where I came from. And to increase my chances during water classes during the selection, I entered the Baltic all week – regardless of the weather. I was getting tough.
‘34’: It took me months to prepare. I've always been in good form and condition due to the fact that I've been swimming for the last 11 years. I competed in the European Championships and was a multiple Polish champion in this discipline. The preparations were divided into 2 stages. First, I was preparing for my physical education exam. The unit's website lists all requirements and examination competitions. So I wrote out my workouts and practiced “tummy”, pumps, pull up on the bar and run.
However, with the field phase in mind, I did various types of strength training. I besides learned navigation based on military maps and I marched a lot.
Instructors frequently repeat that erstwhile there is no more muscle strength, selection can be completed thanks to a strong psyche. How crucial was your determination and motivation during this week's test?
‘38’: They're right. Physical condition can be built, trained, but selection is not about muscles, due to the fact that the head is the most crucial one. Without motivation and determination, interior strength, at any point each will crack. 1 will overcome the icy water, the another another highest to gain during the long march.
I have looked for my strength in my experience so far. I am a individual who tests his limits of endurance and moves them. I was skydiving, diving. Now I know I can stand the icy Baltic and pass the selection. I told myself this was another attempt, another line I'm now crossing. And erstwhile it was especially hard, I would think back to my loved ones who held their fingers for me.
‘34’: I see a certain resemblance to professional sports. You can't go to a competition or a selection to effort your hand, tell yourself it's gonna happen. It's not the right way. You gotta start by setting a goal and then consistently pursuing it. Selections are not passed by a individual of chance, but people motivated, with a circumstantial action plan.
However, this does not mean that I have not had crises. It was as hard as I thought. I think that's the hardest challenge I've faced so far. That's why the hardest thing for me was to silence the interior voice that said, "Why would you want this, you could be home, in a warm bed, you could have dinner?" Why do you request the force of time, the effort? It's a critical minute where you gotta find motivation and decision on.
I usually ask candidates erstwhile they're selected, which made them the most difficult. But I will ask you about this happiest moment...
‘38’: The last meters of the beach marathon. I was exhausted, my legs were highly sore, but erstwhile I saw the teacher in the distance, I felt large happiness and relief. I knew I'd just done my last job.
‘34’: And for me, the marathon was special. We walked alone on the beach at night for 42 kilometers. erstwhile I saw the instructor, I couldn't believe it was over. I'm even moved. I will remember this day for the remainder of my life.
