This is simply a consistent continuation of the policy pursued by Law and Justice for 10 years. Secondly - possibly even more crucial - the presidential strategy will let them to circumvent the opposition of a strong seismic opposition with a strong social mandate - due to the fact that even if the KO loses, it can be expected to have a good consequence in the election in 2 years.
In addition, Karol Nawrocki, erstwhile president of the IPN implementing the historical communicative of the PiS, focused on the "strong state", nationalism and "national ethos" and "return to tradition", as president, will be the perfect individual for building the ideological and symbolic legitimacy of future right-wing power. The PiS, like Trump and Putin, wants full control of the state and citizens - including ubiquitous illegal surveillance, submission not only to the media, but above all to courts, prosecutors, police, peculiar services and troops.
He wants a democracy - a strategy in which public institutions exist, but they are only a facade, an attraction, in fact completely subordinate to the party, with marginalized senates and local governments, without the Prime Minister and opposition (the marginalization of the second will just guarantee a change of the strategy to the presidential one).
And a propaganda communicative that has been building for many years (with the aid of the Catholic Church) a image of the moral revolution with Jarosław Kaczyński, and now Karol Nawrocki and most likely - in the future - with any Confederate policy at the head of it is expected to make ideological foundations for this dictatorship.
