In the Mexican state of Guanajuato, remains of 32 people were discovered buried in plastic bags on a private plot. Fragments of the bodies were found after the residents reported who complained of a bad odor coming from the area. The state of Guanajuato is considered the most dangerous area of Mexico due to the fights between drug cartels.
The body fragments were buried at a tiny depth in plastic bags on a game in La Calera close Irapuato. Police searched the area after reporting from neighbors who complained about the odor coming from there, as reported the Am portal.
The remains were discovered last week, but initially it was unclear how many people they belonged to. It wasn't until Monday, after the analysis, that the D.A. informed about 32 people.
Identification
The Communication stresses that the state of the bodies makes it hard to identify them. The authorities did not disclose details of the causes of death or the circumstances under which the murders occurred.
Guanajuato is referred to as Mexico's most dangerous area. In 2024, 3151 murders were recorded there, the most of all states of the country, as reported by authoritative data.
Fights between cartels
Many acts of force in Guanajuato are attributed to fights between the powerful Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) and the local Cartel de Santa Rosa de Lima gang.
