This tiny unmanned vehicle acts like a kamikaze. Thanks to the cumulative load, the Fool destroys seamines – both those floating in speech and those resting on the bottom, even if they are partially buried in the mule. The devices developed by Polish scientists are used, among others, by crews of Kormoran II kind mine destroyers.

The dummy was constructed at the Gdańsk University of Technology. The task was carried out by a squad led by prof. Lech Rowinski. As a consequence of many years of work, a vehicle was created to combat marine mines, which It's a small kamikaze-like..

At first glance, the device resembles a torpedo. It is little than a ft long and weighs 48 kg. Among another things, it was equipped with sonar, moving head, camera and laser sights. It moves at a velocity of 3 meters per second, even at comparatively strong currents. It can operate at a depth of up to 200 m, and its scope reaches a mile and a half. It is highly maneuverable, due to 4 horizontal propulsors and 1 embedded in a vertical tunnel.

RECLAMA

The fool is leaving the ship. During the mission, it remains connected to the deck via fibre optic. The vehicle shall be operated by an operator which has a peculiar console at its disposal. erstwhile the Fool is underwater, he is heading for the position specified by the ship's hydrolocation station or towed sonar. Sam is able to detect the presence of a mine from a distance of 20–50 m. The operator guides it to the mark and then initiates the detonation of a tiny cumulative charge. The detonation destroys the mine and at the same time the vehicle itself.

But the Navy has another types of fools. School and improvement vehicles do not have a warhead. They can be utilized to train sailors, but besides to look for mines or mirror underwater critical infrastructure.

Prototypic OPM Silly has hit ORP “Flaming”. And since the trials were successful, the Ministry of Defence ordered further specified systems. The fools were utilized by crews of the another 2 mine destroyers of the 206FM project. These ships were withdrawn from service a fewer years ago, but the strategy did not go off. He entered the equipment of modern destroyers min of kind Kormoran II (Project 258). For now, 3 specified units service in the Polish navy, but in the coming years 3 more will enter the line. As the commander of the 8th Coast Defence Fleet, cadmium, admitted. Piotr Sikora, the introduction of the Fool to the decks of the Cormorans allowed to accomplish the effect of redundancy. In another words, Mine recognition and demolition systems have been doubledWhich has given crews unprecedented possibilities. For example, at the same time, crews can search 2 different areas and destruct the mines behind them. The hazard of harm to 1 strategy has besides disappeared.

They besides usage fools. crew of 2 trawlers: ORP „Hancza” and ORP „Breathed”. The OPM sets, however, disagree from those installed on the Cormorans. They were produced in a mobile version. A cage to leave the vehicle if essential can be dismantled and left in port. The console itself is adapted to operate 2 vehicles – alongside Silly, besides the strategy Fowl, or another work of specialists from Gdańsk University of Technology.
