"The White home has informed us that Staten Island hero U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Michael Ollis has been awarded the Medal of Honor for Extraordinary Heroism. In 2013, Staff Sergeant Ollis sacrificed his life to save an allied soldier, and his courage, selflessness and sacrifice are the best example of our nation's values," Malliotakis wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. She emphasized that efforts to honor Ollis had been going on for years and expressed gratitude to president Donald Trump for awarding the soldier with the medal.
