Marta Nawrocka: “I chose life”. Speech by the First woman at the conference "The 21st Century Poland"

Marta Nawrocka's First Lady's speech began with the anniversary conference "Poland of the 21st Century" – the 5th edition of the event, held on 6 March 2026 in Warsaw. In her beginning address, she spoke of courage, faithfulness to values, and life decisions requiring religion and determination. Her words about the choice of life drew peculiar attention.

The conference was held in the Bank of Poland's Redoubt and brought together women from various backgrounds – business, administration, discipline or public services. The subject of this year's edition was courage, understood as a willingness to take liable decisions and act in accordance with the values professed.

“I chose right due to the fact that I was not afraid”

In her speech, Marta Nawrocka repeatedly referred to her individual experience and decisions that she pointed out required courage.

“Today I can say that I chose right due to the fact that I did not succumb to fear. I chose life”

said during the gathering with the conference participants.

These words should be taken as a clear mention to the pro-life attitude that emphasizes the value of human life. The first woman pointed out that actual freedom was not simply a substance of declaration, but of faithfulness to the values and courage of their defence.

“Today’s planet frequently tells us a lot about freedom. But little about where freedom comes from. It has values and courage.”

In her words about the "choice of life" the First woman referred to a individual communicative she had previously told in an interview with TVN24. In a conversation with writer Joanna Kryńska Nawrocka, she admitted that as a young female she became pregnant and faced a hard life decision. As she stressed, she decided to give birth to her child, based on faith, household support. She never regretted that decision. This experience – as she said – required courage and had a profound impact on her view of life and on her attitude towards the issue of life protection.

Marta Nawrocka stressed that courage does not always should be spectacular or visible in the media. In her opinion, she frequently manifests herself in regular decisions and faithfulness to beliefs.

At the end of the speech, Marta Nawrock turned to the participants of the conference, encouraging them to courage and common support. She stressed that women present have many roles at the same time leading businesses, working in administrations, services, schools or hospitals, while besides caring for their families.

The First woman emphasized that faithfulness to values, specified as respect for human life and work for another man, gives real strength.
