The head of the PiS club Mariusz Błaszczak warns that within the next 3-4 years the Ministry of National Defence may face bankruptcy due to the fact that any commitments related to the modernisation of the army are to be covered exclusively by the MON budget.
During a Thursday press conference in the Sejm, the head of the PiS club reported correspondence between the finance department and MON. The papers show that repayment of loans and loans to upgrade the military will only take place from the alleged part of the 29th state budget, namely the Ministry of Defence budget.
A PiS politician appealed to reconstruct the ability to repay military debt from another parts of the state budget. Otherwise, MON is facing bankruptcy: – If there is simply a process of expansion of the Polish army, within 3-4 years the debt, and thus the amounts essential to repay the debt, will exceed the amount of the budget allocated to defence. If nothing changes, then within 3-4 years, MON will be bankrupt," Błaszczak stressed.
The head of the PiS club recalled that a mechanics was introduced during the regulation of the Law and Justice that allows financing the modernization of the Polish Army from non-budget sources. Today, however, this mechanics has become “completely inefficient”: – Today, alongside part 29 of the state budget is the Armed Forces Support Fund. The money is raised for the FWSZ by e.g. issuing bonds, but I am talking about the theory, the practice is different, the practice is that the MF, obliged MON to repay loans, loans, only made from the MON budget – he pointed out.
B. Minister of Defence besides pointed out the threat to his assessment of limiting the powers of the Armed Forces Agency.
