The court in Paris ruled on Monday a ban on participation in elections for French far right leader Marine Le Pen and another defendants in the case of the fictional hiring of MEPs assistants; it is not yet clear how long the ban will apply.
The court ruled that the ban would be enforced immediately, but the judgement is inactive being read and it is not clear how long it will apply. The political future of Le Pen depends on it, i.e. whether it will be able to compete in the 2027 presidential election.
Marine Le Pen left the courtroom before reading her sentence.
