Marek Baterowicz: The unusual concepts of the Cardinal (and Yad Vashem games)
date: December 09, 2025 Editor: GKut

From far distant you can see better...

erstwhile Anthony Sharwood recalled at the end of 2024 (and in English, which increased the number of readers) that the Kingdom of Poland was a paradise for the Jews, it gave hope. Hope, for this fact casts out anti-Semitism weapons to Poles, which they have repeatedly attacked us for alleged aversion or prejudice against the nation of Jesus and Mary. Unfortunately, this joy lasted briefly, for late the Yad Vashem Institute declared urbi et orbi: “Poland was the first country where Jews were forced to wear distinguishing badges to isolate them from the surrounding population”, as stated in no.49 “Networks” (video Jerzy Szmit “Anthropolism or awkwardness?”, 1-7 December 2025). Why does the Yad Vashem Institute defile our past with this lie? First of all, akin orders came from Rome, not an expression of the will of Polish rulers, but in Poland they were avoided, which forced the Papacy at the age of XIII to react: “The Legat Gwido reminded very sharply about the restrictions on Jews. He ordered them to live only in the ghetto, wear sleepy hats and another embarrassing signs, and forbid Christians to hang out with them and sit at the table, but at the same time he committed the Israelites to equal benefits to the Catholics for the clergy. specified rights existed then throughout Catholic Europe, but in Poland they were weighed slightly. News about the peculiar papal writing, punishing Poles for excess liberalism and free switching with Jews remained.” ( Paweł Jasienica, “Poland Piastów” (W-wa, PiW, p.165). And the persecution of Jews occurred only in these cities (Poznań, Kalisz, Kraków), in which the German patricite dominated as Jasienica besides writes (op. cit., p.240) and only in the mediate Ages, especially during the plague of 1349. It should be added that – as we read in Józef Kraszewski's volume “The images of the princes and kings of Poland” (W-wa, 1888, The Prints of Gebethner and Wolff, p.159/160) : “Later, in 1538, the ancients were ordered to wear yellow hats, but shortly behind Sigismund Augustus they were freed from this custom, which they reportedly never followed. "Commendoni mentions that in his day they wore swords, and as King Sigismund III, in the description of Gaetan's journey, we read about Jews with beards and long pyjamas, in jarmules and fox hats. If it was just the headgear... A lobby is constantly working on changes and mowing the Holocaust genesis. This was even infected by Cardinal Grzegorz Rys, who unfortunately erstwhile dreamed of considering the Holocaust, taking the highly bold thesis that Christianity was...the essential condition of the Holocaust!? ( it was late recalled ed. Paweł Lisicki in “To Things”) And this sofizmat the cardinal is trying to propose that the Holocaust emerged from Christianity? How primitive is simplification, and it resembles Elie Wiesel's vision, for which all the victims were Jews and all the executioners were Christians... (!), slowly, due to the fact that it is besides worth considering whether Lutherans or Protestants, prevailing in the SS and the army, were the same Christians as Catholics?

Not quite, in addition, the Holocaust emerged from the poisoned pulpit “Mein Kampf” and its author felt no connection with Christianity. And as the testimonies of Poles who frequently saved Jews during the business tell us, Christianity was just the origin of the authentic a n t i d o t u m against the Holocaust! Poles did so not only out of compassion for their fellow-brothers persecuted by the Germans, but besides “in the name of God's Mercy” – specified as the Maria and Karol Kazuro, hiding for 4 years the Gordon household (video Janina Hera, “Poles saving Jews”, W-wa,2014, p. 241). They besides survived the war, were fortunate unlike the Ulm family, Samaritans of Markowa, whom the Germans shot along with 7 children, and Pope Francis honored their martyrdom by beatification in 2023. The Ulms besides hid Jews from Christian mercy, this was the fundamental motivation of Poles saving the lives of their “brother” in spite of dangers, risks associated with it. Thousands of Poles took this risk, unfortunately thousands besides lost their lives erstwhile Germans found hiding places or utilized a tip. Under these conditions, helping Jews was an act of large courage. But seemingly 1 Australian was right to say that Poles are “people of heroic virtues”. Even Adam Michnik erstwhile said the same thing (known more frequently as an anti-Polician): “...in specified times, to gain this kind of heroism meant to be individual absolutely unusual” (Janina Hera, idem, p.33).

In 1959, Joseph Materklas, who rescued the Jews in Lviv, submitted a plan of a monument in honor of those who “bringing aid to the Jews, gave their own life.” He wrote to the People's Tribune and to Israel's message in Warsaw. Unfortunately, the monument was not erected, and Mr. Materklas did not even receive an answer from the Israeli message. It follows that the victims of Poles in defence of Jews are to be silenced, individual cares.

It would be better if the Kraków metropolitan, Cardinal Ryś, said to be the successor of St. John Paul II, supported the thought of specified a monument alternatively of developing any unusual concept of the Holocaust, smearing the good name of Christianity. After all, it was Christianity that inspired thousands of Poles to rescue judaic brothers in the Nazi-occupied Homeland. Christianity was not “a essential condition” (rare is absurd!) for the emergence of the Holocaust, but it became an authentic antidote against the Holocaust. Priests, churches, and monasteries besides took part in the large rescue of Jews, as evidenced by many testimonies. CARDYNAL, it's better to look late than never...
