Marcin Drewicz: CANON OF SCHOOL LEACHING? Part 1: IS THE PRESENT CLEACHING OF THE LEACH "SIZE" IN THE 5th CIO OR 6th SCHOOL?

In 1992, the fresh "solidarity" educational and ministerial authorities in Poland made a list of school readings not revolutionaryly different from the 1 in the late Polish People's Republic, specifically from 1985. Among the teachers' "Solidarity" of the "breakthrough" period was the opinion that "for a set of readings proposed by primary school programmes ... In fact, there is no blame – a wide set of Polish classics is complemented by a list of non-Polish authors whose works are permanently based in children's and youth literature (Andersen, Grimm, Defoe, London, Montgomery).

This list is adorned by a modest set of Russian and russian authors (Gajdar, Gogol, Polewoj)". However, at the beginning of the 1990s “Russian and russian Authors” removed, however, leaving these “Out of Poland”. Among them, Anglo-Saxons dominated and dominated the Polish language.

Thus, subsequent ministerial reading lists – from 1999, 2017-2018, 2021, 2024 (there were more of them) – are, especially for the mediate School, mutations of this canon from the last decade of PRL. Of course, any readings disappeared, others, it would seem that of marginal importance to the Polish canon, but they stick surprisingly, another 1 was added “from the law and from the left”, and another 1 “they appeared and disappeared”. any readings revolved and continued to circulate between ‘obligatory-basic’, ‘compulsory-extended’ and ‘complementary’ (also broken down into ‘basic’ and ‘extended’).

Why is that? Let us note that the previous, i.e. PiS-owskie Ministry "scored" in the scope discussed here at least 1 autocorrection of its own reading list, after 3 years (sic! 2018-2021). On the another hand, the present PO-Wskie Ministry has "settled" this set taken over after predecessors. Why? We can only guess.

After all, no 1 explains this society loudly; possibly in any niche publications. Since 1992, and since the times of the Polish People's Republic preceding the drafting ("mutation") of that "solidarity" of the school's reading list, this school's primary school has been subject to changes most likely greater than that of the Over-Basic School; most likely "in the name of advancement and modernity".

For example – present there is no longer a list of the names of any of the authors of the generation born at the turn of the 19th/XX centuries, it would seem (and rightly so), leading to Polish literature for children in our era, specified as Maria Kownacka, Ewa Szelburg-Zarembina, or Hanna Januszewska (a part was left, among others. Janina Porazińska). But there are fresh authors from the 21st century, whose texts we old people don't know and... will we?

But even in that "solidarity" census of 1992, even though the common attention was then paid to what Polish culture was taken by communism, and no of the subsequent works writing for children and younger youth of another leading authors, born in the last 4th of the 19th century, as opposed to those mentioned in the carefully censored circulation of communist times of the Polish People's Republic, specified as Maria Buyno-Arctowa, Helena Zakrewska, Bronisław Ostrowska, or Zofia Żurakowska.

At least 1 of the recently created publications took up editing their books only in the early years of the fresh 21st century, and praise him for it!

But let's just go over the reading list for mediate Schools. As any of the P.T. Readers remember, we are the authors of the task of a fresh school strategy for Poland, in 2 variants, to choose from: 7+5 and 6+6.

So how is this present ministerial list of school readings for mediate Schools, on the example of the PiS-owska version from 2021 (Journal of Laws 2021, item 1537), to the time frame of teaching the subject Polish language outlined in both our versions?

Currently, in the advanced School of 4 Years, as in the past (in our time), fresh subjects can be addressed for six or 7 semesters at most, since the eighth semester, at least the seventh in part, is devoted in practice only to prenatal preparations and repetitions. Today, however, they are not about reminding and ordering the cognition and skills acquired during past years of learning, but about the dulling (!!!) "training to pass the elder tests", which are related to these resources of cognition loose or none.

The author of this magazine devoted a year-two years ago quite a few time to familiarize himself with Internet-wide tests of alleged seniors from past years, from various subjects, and caused by this civilization-cultural panic (!) does not leave it yet. It's not a degree worthy of that name! For many years now. This must be abandoned and returned to the actual matriculation! We compose more about this in a different place.

Although we now have Five-Year-Old Technology – which is already part of the school strategy 7+5 – but the scope of teaching the subject Language of Poland (many others also) does not exceed that of Four-Year-Old advanced School there. For the 5 Years mediate School, we anticipate fresh subjects to be taken up for the full 8 semesters, and for the Six Years mediate School for the full 10 semesters.

In the present list of readings – from 2021, including 2024 (Journal of Laws 2024, item 1019) – the same is actual – the part covering the titles ‘mandatory-basic’ has 49 items, for all years of discipline combined, the part concerning, as ‘they’ now call it, the scope of the ‘mandatory-extended’ 25 items (total 74 items), while the set of readings ‘complementary’ has a full of 68 items (compulsory’ + ‘extended’).

So 74 plus 68 is equal to 142. Atoli of literary works is more in the list, due to the fact that under one, as we compose here, the "position" Ministry publishes and this is 1 fresh in its entirety, and this is another track "in fragments", and this is 2 or more smaller prosator works, elsewhere the "chosen poems" of respective mentioned (there are that and not mentioned!) from the surname of poets or indicated titles of respective poems and/or poems of 1 poet.

How many lessons can you “rework” in a class specified a single ministerial “position” or “point”? So, for example, 1 fresh or, for example, the poems of respective poets belonging to a single thematic group, environment or era, including literary debates, reciting, staging, etc. Let's presume that average (!) for 3 to 4 lessons. Here we ignore the fact that any subjects "from Polish" concern e.g. the characteristics of the era or e.g. the issues of language learning; taking into account the figures given below there would be small different.

In our Framework Teaching Plans – curious in P.T. Readers can find them in another publications, among others on the MP page – we give for each of the school subjects an indicative number of lessons, during which fresh subjects of teaching are undertaken (so without lessons devoted to repetition, testing, etc.).

So how much reading- ‘positions’ (as MEN says) can be done in the mediate School proposed by us, or ‘to fit’ throughout the course of teaching the subject Polish language from the first class to the prematural class (as we think the elder class should be devoted to repetition)? The answer is given in the following table:

Number of lessons available
Secondary school

Six years

Technique

Six years

Secondary school

Five years

Technique

Five years

546390481338
With 3 lessons devoted to discussing a given "position", the number of all "positions" (school lessons) will be:
182130160112
In 4 lessons devoted to discussing a given “position” the number of all “positions” (school lessons) will be:
1369712084

In turn, all “positions” in the ministerial census of 2021 are – let us remind – 142 (in this latest one, from 2024, after clear cuts and notes – 122).

In order to make everyone aware of the large benefits it brings, besides for teaching the subject Language of Poland, the introduction of the school strategy 6+6 or 7+5, let us look at the smallest of the numbers obtained from simple sharing – the 1 in the lower right corner of our above-mentioned table: 84.

Here, in the variant, 1 of four, erstwhile the time for teaching the Polish Language would be the least, that is, in the Five-Year Technology proposed by us, this time would be adequate to familiarise young people with all the "obligatory" readings in both the 2 "basic" and "extended" ranges today, and besides to fulfil the ministerial disposition concerning the "complementary" reading: "in each class there are 2 books mandatory".

This gives a full of 82 “positions” to read (in 2024 only “at least 1 book item from or outside the list of examples of supplementary readings”).

What a place where time to introduce fresh topics would be more! At the Six-Year advanced School – 182 ‘positions’ – reading and teaching would cover all works under any pretext mentioned in the ministerial school reading list for the mediate School; in the variant for 130 ‘positions’ without tiny ones, since there are them, these ‘positions’ in this list of all in number 142, and the literary works themselves, as we have already pointed out, a small more.

But what, or how many “positions” are offered to our mediate School youth now, or since 2024?

"Compulsory light – basic scope": a full of 35 "positions", including "literary works full known": 13 "positions"; "short literary works full known and literary works known in fragments": 15 "positions"; "poetic works": 7 "positions".

In addition, ‘must-read extended’: a full of 17 ‘positions’; 8+6+3 respectively. Plus, “example supplementary readings”: we already know 4×1=4.

So, now the maximum option, for those who are now learning this "Polaka" in greater time than others: 35+17+4=56. Compare the numbers in the table above. There's a difference! Right?

Not only in the field of reading, but in the field of all school subjects we are now being drawn in, our young people are being drawn in, not for the first time in the fresh past of Poland, in the phase of the "social advance" under the popular slogan: "Not a matura, but a desire to be honest, to make you an officer"; in these days possibly even more "manedier" or "older specialist". But it was “now” erstwhile “all was already.”

We besides recommend: More migrants arrive in Poland all year than children are born
