From Drafting
For more than 3 years we have been publishing on the Solidarni2010.pl portal columnony by Marcin Bogdan. The columnist comments on current events concerning Poland, Europe, the planet and the Catholic Church. He comments but besides cites facts, points to threats, tries to anticipate the consequences of various events or actions of politicians for the future of Poland.
The lyrics afraid various matters, politics, the economy, sometimes even sport. Written with large regularity have created a kind of chronicle of fresh years - not to be overestimated in times of haste, congestion of information and temporaryity. We felt it was worth to print these columns in print, just in chronological order, as the events on the axis of the present.
Marcin Bogdan is an insightful observer of events, and many of his comments are unique. He draws attention to crucial things, frequently decisive on the assessment that have escaped the attention of another commentators. An example of this is the lyrics “Euro or Gold” and column under the so crucial title “Words, Words, Words” in which the author from the stream of words falling on both sides of the political dispute brings out small known but crucial facts.
The columns of Marcin Bogdan are filled with patriotism, respect for past and concern for the future, as we see in the text, and even in the title of the column “Do you want to voluntarily give your gold to Germany?” However, these texts always uncover a note of distance, subtle irony and spite, which makes the author never imposes his opinions on us, but alternatively wanders along with the reader in the meanders of modern times as a companion of reflection on the phenomena he writes about. More in these insightful and apt questions than the pompous answers.
For his choice, the author proposed the title “Last Years of Poland in Columns” while noting that “the title refers to the last years, i.e. past years, but this title may besides propose that these are the last years of Poland, Poland we have known, in which we lived, Poland free and sovereign”. Hopefully, thanks besides to Marcin Bogdan's columns, this did not happen.
