Marcin Bogdan: Body Speech

Nonverbal communication is usually done at subconscious level. Therefore, the skillful reflection of another people's body speech allows to admit their current psychophysical state, attitude to a given situation, as well as their established features specified as character or temperament. Hiding the body's own speech can be a tricky art.

Body speech designation is crucial at crucial times, specified as business negotiations. But specified a minute in which the speech of the body speaks more than words is important, groundbreaking events in the life of a given person, a social group or the full nation. Undoubtedly specified a moment, specified an event was the swearing in to the Office of president Dr. Karol Nawrocki. The oath, which took place after the elections preceded by an highly harsh campaign, after attempts to undermine the integrity of these elections and after attempts to block the oath, which even the opponents of the fresh president called the effort to carry out a coup in Poland.

On the day of the swearing-in of president Nawrocki, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, I began observing body speech on the streets of Warsaw, under the Sejm, in Krakowskie Przedmieście, in Castle Square. Thousands, tens of thousands of smiling, joyful people. People who do not get to know fatigue frequently have a long journey to Warsaw. Many women in red skirts and white blouses. Most with high-rise white-red flags. People who are aware of the seriousness of the situation in Poland, Europe and the world, but who are besides assured in the future, the safe future of Poland. The soldiers from the CODE and the citizens of Poland besides presented their speech. They came under the Sejm with black flags, they acted provocatively, they raised vulgar slogans. Through audible tubes they attempted to disrupt another participants' participation in the ceremony of swearing in the President. They played various Russian songs due to the fact that they were taught that, they were raised that way, only that they can, only this language realize and accept. That's their body language, homo sovieticus body language. Wot, small ones.

In order to see all this, to feel and feel it, 1 had to be on the streets of Warsaw on that day. But in order to look at the speech of the body of politicians, erstwhile I returned home, I recreated the tv coverage of the oath ceremony and the office of president by Karol Nawrocki. In the Sejm my attention was caught by the facial expressions of Margaret Kidawa-Błońska. As Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, she was close to the full ceremony, as if in the glow of flashes and cameras. On her stone face was not so much anger or disapproval as bottomless bluntness. She couldn't realize what was going on. I mean, if nature wanted Nawrocki to be President, it would have been a long time ago. Without all that recalculation, no votes at all. It's as natural as the marine straits are.

Against this background, but without this background, it was worthy of the behaviour and speech of Simon Holownia's body. He retained the seriousness of the Majesty of the Marshal of the Sejm and the Majesty of the Republic. It is worth highlighting. How different was the speech of the body of erstwhile president Lech Wałęsa, or erstwhile Prime Minister Leszek Miller, who did not appear that day in the Sejm, or Roman Gierty, who ostentably left the Sejm before the formal swearing in of the fresh President. How different was the body of Members and Senators of the ruling coalition, with Prime Minister Tuski at the head. It's kind of like sports in politics. First there is competition, frequently fierce, sometimes fouls, but after a game, after a sports match, losers can grin at winners, and winners can shake hands of losers. due to the fact that in the sports arena, they're rivals, not mortal enemies. It is in sport, but not in Polish politics. After the election, emotions did not drop, on the contrary, were pumped to the limits of endurance, or alternatively far beyond these limits. The body of ministers and Prime Minister Tusk during the swearing-in testified to this. Hateful glances, clenched teeth, or clenched remnants of teeth, as in the case of Żurek, drumming fingers on desktops. Unverbal manifestation of hostility.

Body speech and the President's exposé. Care for the future with respect for the past. Building the future on the foundations of the past. The exhibition concluded by quotations of the sentences of the “fathers of Polish independence”, Józef Piłsudski, Roman Dmowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Wincent Witos, Wojciech Korfanty and Ignacy Daszyński. “We are Poles and we have Polish responsibilities”, “Independence is not given to us erstwhile and for all”, “The main function of the state is to serve”, “It is essential to service the society, to work hard and to perceive to society”, “We must fight against those who push people to fall and to deplorate”. A fewer decades ago, these words combined competing politicians, and at the same time statesmen, over divisions, over various visions of building Polish statehood. Today, which is shocking, these words do not just share. After the words “We are Poles and we have Polish responsibilities” MPs and senators on the right side of the political scene prepared a large ovation. Those from the government coalition did not clap, their speech of the body did not show a small approval for these words. Who to be after the words “We are Poles and we have Polish responsibilities” sit in a seismic bench with a mars face, with your head down. Polish duties are a burden for them, a burden that is unbearable, due to the fact that for them Polishness is abnormal.

August 6, 2025 is simply a historic, landmark day. A day of rich experience and observation. The body of the American delegation, who came to Poland for the first time in history, was significant. On their return to the White House, it can be assumed that they will study to president Trump their visit to the Polish Parliament with the words: we arrived, we saw, God was victorious, normality prevailed, Poland was victorious. The winner was Poland, which the President, assuming the authority over the Armed Forces, said to the soldiers: “Your President, never, I promise, will never say to you: forward, I will always say to you: follow me!”

The excellent point of the speech of Polish politicians, the speech of the participants of the ceremony, the speech of Polish people, is the reaction of German media to the swearing-in of Karol Nawrocki to the president of Poland. I quote any of the most eloquent quotes behind the celebrated writer Miłosz Gladowski:

"Nawrocks will most likely become a lighthouse for all right-wing, conservative European movements, skeptical of German leadership"

"President specified as Nawrocki can further weaken German influence in the region"

"For Germany, Nawrock's election is simply a threat to the post-war European consensus and the challenge of moral leadership that Berlin wants to symbolize"

"The president who quotes Dmowski breaks the German anticipation of a humble neighbour. Poland seems determined to compose its own story, even if Berlin does not like it."

If we look further at the words of Chancellor Friedrich Merz, saying "I do not hide that I would like a different consequence from the presidential elections in Poland“ we can be certain that Poles made the right choice, that Poland made the perfect choice.
